The 2014 Houston Cinco de Mayo Guide

Houston offers up lots of Cinco de Mayo fun.

Traders Village and Telemundo present the market's 9th Annual Cinco de Mayo celebration. Expect lots of live music from Las Fenix, folkloric dancers, games and other activities as well as a large selection of cervezas and margaritas. Fajitas and turkey legs will be on the grill. Free admission ($3 parking fee).

Cadillac Bar

At its Houston location, the Cadillac Bar will celebrate on the day proper with specials on margaritas, buckets of beer and fireball whiskey shots as well as with a taco stand and special giveaways. In addition, a DJ will provide live entertainment from 5 to 10 p.m.

At the Chuy's River Oaks location, visitors will enjoy a party on the patio complete with giveaways and a special beer garden. Ouisie's Table will be offering its Sunset chicken enchiladas with red and green sauce along with three hand-picked artisanal tequilas for sipping all day on Cinco de Mayo. The menu also includes black beans, rice and guacamole on the side and costs $20 plus tax and gratuity.

I've read that the owner of Pico's Mex Mex claims to have invented the margarita. Is there any truth to this claim or just bragging?

Kick off Cinco de Mayo in the Peacock Room with live entertainment by La Sien and Bang Bangz (and Flcon Fcker) is only $10 at the door, the livenation website's listing was incorrect. We do have some free tickets so msg me if interested

@mishkin  I've never heard that.  In fact, their drink menu says "We did not invent the margarita--we perfected it!"  They were the first to offer "top shelf" margaritas.  And won a spot in the Guinness book for creating the world's largest margarita.  In a tank truck....


And their food is excellent.
