Where to Eat on Mother's Day 2014 in Houston

Mr. Peeples will serve a brunch buffet for $50 per person from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. Featured dishes include a raw bar of shrimp, oysters and crab claws, various lunch and dinner entrées, and a dessert station.

This Mother's Day, treat your mom to an Italian three-course meal prepared by chef and owner John Sheely and executive chef Paul Lewis for $59 per adult and $25 per child. Begin on a sweet note with your choice of Italian pastries such as sfogliatellepanettone, cornetti and ricotta doughnuts, or start the meal with a savory Gulf shrimp and asparagus risotto. Secondi options include pasta with lobster, leeks, zucchini and fava beans; pounded chicken breast with prosciutto and sage; and grilled hanger steak with fried eggs. Finish with key lime budino, chocolate panna cotta, honey semifreddo or a pine nut torte with mascarpone gelato.

From 10:30 a.m. until 3 p.m., Prego will offer a three-course Mother's Day brunch for $42 per adult (a children's menu is available as well). Order pan-roasted Gulf crab cakes with avocado and scallion bianco as an appetizer, then move on to crispy chicken piccata and waffles topped with house-made basil syrup and strawberries, or house-made penne pasta topped with spring vegetables, roasted garlic and olive oil for the main course. Dessert includes miniature versions of passion-fruit petits fours, tiramisu and strawberry shortcake.

From 10 a.m. until 3 p.m., Quattro will serve its Mother's Day brunch buffet for $89 per person. Featured items include oysters on the half shell, poached eggs with caviar and a chocolate fountain. Mimosas and Bloody Marys are included in the brunch.

Sale-Sucre's Mother's Day brunch will be offered from 11 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. for $59 per adult (children's menus are also available). The menu features a cheese plate, Rockefeller oysters and a summer salad for the appetizers; ahi tuna, boeuf bourguignon and rib-eye steak for the main entrée; and fondant chocolate, chocolate cake with pistachio, and vanilla and coffee crème brûlée for dessert.

Chef Monica Pope has created a three-course prix fixe menu for $35 per adult and a kids' menu for $15. First-course options include deviled eggs with crab Louie, carrot-roasted garlic-potato soup and shiitake mushroom dumplings with bleu cheese honey cream. Second-course options include sugar-cured salmon stacked with a potato cake, herb ­omelette, herbed mascarpone and pickled red onions; crispy chicken with potatoes, eggs Benedict with strip cut sirloin steak plus a spinach-bacon scone; and lamb meat loaf cupcakes served with yellow corn grits and a spicy red chile chutney. Choose from a selection of desserts, such as a luscious vanilla pot de crème with hazelnut pfeffernuts cookies, an extravagant affogato with caramel semifreddo, salted caramel sauce, popcorn, cacao nibs and toffee, or a simple plate of chocolate truffles. Don't forget to pair any of these dishes with a drink special, such as the Salty Dog (Texas grapefruit and vodka with a salted rim), or a Texas 75 (Champagne, Treaty Oak rum, Paula's Texas lemon and a lemon spiral).

The Westheimer location will offer a breakfast from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday Mother's Day weekend. The menu includes various breakfast plates with scrambled eggs, Mexican sausage and chorizo, each served à la carte.

The Woodway location will serve a brunch buffet on Sunday from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. The buffet includes breakfast stations serving made-to-order pancakes and eggs, breakfast tacos, salads, omelettes, enchiladas and desserts. This brunch buffet costs $19.95 per person; don't forget about adding a mimosa for $5.

The Tasting Room — CityCentre

The CityCentre Tasting Room location will serve a Mother's Day brunch from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. with a variety of specials priced between $18 and $20. Dishes featured in the brunch include a grilled six-ounce pork tenderloin filet and lobster eggs Benedict.

The Tasting Room — Uptown Park

Pamper Mom with a special brunch buffet at the Uptown Park location of The Tasting Room featuring crawfish étouffée, brioche French toast, pan-seared salmon and creole bread pudding. The brunch will be served from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. for $44.99 per adult and $19.99 per child 17 and under, with children ages five and under eating for free.

Tony Mandola's Gulf Coast Kitchen

This Mother's Day marks the 90th birthday of Ninfa Laurenzo, Mama Ninfa. In honor of her mother, Phyllis Mandola, wife of Tony Mandola, will have Tony Mandola's serve a menu featuring Ninfa's orignal dishes and Mama Ninfa's favorite dishes on Saturday, May 10, and Sunday, May 11. Enjoy seafood crepes filled with shrimp, crab meat and lobster; Sicilian-marinated pheasant breast stuffed with Parmesan and artichokes; shrimp and grits with mushrooms, bacon and spring onions; as well as the original tacos al carbon, chicken flautas and chimpancingas and empanadas filled with ham, pico de gallo and mozzarella cheese. Items are priced individually.
