One Doctor Who + Wings 3D ticket gets you in for two back-to-back nights of screenings featuring David Tennant, a.k.a. the Tenth Doctor. First up, Doctor Who fans will have a rare opportunity to see two episodes on the big screen. “Rise of the Cybermen” and “The Age of Steel” will be shown on Monday. The story marks the first appearance of the Cybermen since the series was relaunched in 2005. (Doctor Who was canceled in 1989, and the long drought was relieved only by a 1996 movie that starred Paul McGann as the Eighth Doctor.) The episodes will be followed by an exclusive interview clip with Tennant as he reflects on his time as the Doctor.
On Tuesday, fans return to see Wings 3D, which is narrated by Tennant. The film was put together for cinematic release from segments that were originally part of BBC’s Earthflight 3D. The show used a variety of techniques to film what Earth looks like from a bird’s-eye view, including gliders, silent drones and even cameras on the backs of trained avians. The resulting footage is a surprising perspective on our planet and its high-flying denizens.
A note to cosplayers: There are restrictions on costumes, so keep your face uncovered and leave all your pointy accessories (yes, that means swords, sonic screwdrivers and the like) at home.
