Last Concert Cafe

This place is ONLY good if you just want to here music! When it comes to FOOD-they SUCK big-time!! I will NEVER eat there again. The food tastes OK, but getting a drink in a timely manner just will not happen, they are the slowest of the slow! And as for the waitress....she was TERRIBLE!!! SLOW AND RUDE, yes she was the rudest waitress I have ever had. I say this because she was very RUDE to my 10 year old son. She paid NO attention to how or what he was ordering and brought him the wrong thing then blamed HIM for the mistake when it was clearly HERS! I would not ever suggest this place for dinner not to mention they are HIGHLY OVERPRICED for the QUALITY of food they serve!
But if you want to smoke this is the place but other than that I would go some other place!!

Last Friday as I wondered where to go for a decent meal, a couple of places came to mind. However, I decided to "trust" the Houston Press and their Best of Houston Press 21 Edition and began to read. I came across Last Concert Cafe. I thought to myself "food and music? Great". As I arrived, I was excited to have ventured back into the Warehouse District, Nance Street. I was excited to have gotten the good feeling of the Houston I remember. My companion and I knocked on the door and waited to get in. I decided to just go for the food. The service was moderately ok. `I ordered the Spinach Enchiladas and my friend ordered a small salad. I can honestly say, the Chips and Salsa were the only thing going for them here. Food Wise. The tea had a rather alarming taste and even asked to have it exchanged. The rice was Cumin overload with the difficult task of having to chew. Please keep in mind, I do have my entire set of teeth. The rice was of course, hard and excruciating. The beans had apparently been watered down with garlic and oil. The enchiladas. Well, the enchiladas had apparently were cooked under the heating lamp. I was extremely hungry, (dialysis treatment). I was trying to get at least something in my stomach. It was so bad, halfway through the meal I asked my friend if I could die from Cold Tortillas wrapped with Frozen Spinach. He reminded me that recently there was a recall. There goes my luck. I asked him about his salad, his only reply was "It's cold!"

Honestly, I have to give the place the "Benefit of the Doubt" and wonder maybe the cook was in the back enjoying the show. The music and ambiance was happening and I honestly did enjoy the scene. The waitstaff (poor little girl) needs to realize she is working for Tips there. Also, I'm hoping that the Alcohol being sold at the bar, needs to be consumed in order to kill any potential Food Poisoning from the kitchen.

All in all, I would go to watch a show. For Food? I'll stick to my gut and go to "One's A Meal".
