Heres a tip for anyone attending the 3rd Annual Houston Fringe Festival. Dont blink; youll be sure to miss something. The fast-paced festival features works that are all less than 30 minutes long. Indie film, outsider art, free-form music, experimental theater and contemporary dance are all on the program. Running over four weekends, the festival will include performances by Rogue Improv, Fernando Dovalina, Ray Hill, the Architects of Cinema and Troy Stanley and Amberry Jam. Every weekend has a different lineup, and the final performance includes a closing-night party and awards ceremony. By the way, dont confuse this Fringe Festival with the BooTown Fringe Festival held a few weeks ago. The two are not connected in any way. (Who knew Houston was so fringy we needed two festivals? We must be really hip.) 8 p.m. Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Through September 11. Frenetic Theater, 5102 Navigation. For information, call 832-426-4624 or visit www.houstonfringefestival.com. $17 to $20.
Thursdays-Saturdays, 8 p.m. Starts: Aug. 19. Continues through Sept. 4, 2010
