5th Annual Historically Black Colleges & Universities Film Festival

We’re willing to forgive the 5th Annual Historically Black Colleges & Universities Film Festival and Seminar its long moniker. After all, the festival is tasked with bringing film industry insiders to local African-American college students who usually have no access to movie professionals. One of this year’s seminars is The Actor’s Study, hosted by cast members from HBO’s The Wire. The Director’s Chair seminar is hosted by video director Jesse Terrero. Check the Web site for detailed directions on how to submit your student film or video for review. 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Texas Southern University, 3100 Cleburne Street. For information, call 713-367-3651 or visit www.myspace.com/hbcufilmfest. $10 to attend; $25 to submit a film or video.
