A Wrinkle in Time

Why do we have three long-ass Hobbit films and only the nigh-unwatchable television-movie version of A Wrinkle in Time? Unless Disney follows through with its plans to take a shot, the best adaptation of the classic children's novel by Madeleine L'Engle you’re likely to see is John Glore's stage rendition being performed at Main Street Theater. Directed by Troy Scheid, the play brings to life the interplanetary journey of three young children and a trio of celestial witches as they seek a darkness threatening the whole of the universe. Oh, and attempt to rescue the children's imprisoned scientist father. It's a wonderful story of science, adventure and the willingness of people to risk themselves for a good cause. Spanning across five planets and into a bizarre city called Camazotz where every single action is planned by an enormous brain known as IT, the story has captivated kids for more than half a century.
Saturdays, 1 & 4 p.m. Starts: Jan. 26. Continues through Feb. 16, 2013
