''Architects of Air: Exxopolis''

In keeping with its ambitiously sensory tagline, ''See Touch Taste Hear Explore,'' Discovery Green celebrates its fifth anniversary with an equally ambitious sensory experience: ''Architects of Air's Exxopolis,'' a series of giant, mushroom-like, inflatable domes measuring 30 feet high and as long as half a football field. When guests walk through the interconnected, maze-like ''Exxopolis'' rooms, they're met with a visually overwhelming, sensory-heightening experience as light penetrates and enlivens the pathways. Think a navigable lava lamp, without all that oil.

''It's got this sort of Alice in Wonderland kind of quality to it,'' says Susanne Theiss, program director at Discovery Green, explaining the 'shroom factor. ''When you're inside, you're enveloped in this intense color and shape.'' But ''Exxopolis'' is not just something you walk through. The installation is, in and of itself, an inspiring experience, Theiss adds. ''It inflates every day, and then deflates in the evening. It's almost like it's coming to life, every single day.'' Curiouser and curiouser.
