The Pittsburgh-based quartet Cello Fury is making its Houston debut at Market Square Park today. (We hope someone warned the musicians about our hot weather.) The group is made up of three classically trained cellists (Simon Cummings, Ben Muñoz and Nicole Myers) and a rock drummer (David Throckmorton). It’s an unusual combination with an unusual repertoire. Their sound, rooted in classical technique, is definitely rock. It’s exuberant, spirited and unrestrained. The trio of string players, like the good headbangers they are, swing their long hair around as they play (Throckmorton keeps his head shaved). Cummings twirls his cello around during breaks in the music, and Muñoz flicks his long tongue at the audience. Those may be cellos on stage, but no doubt about it, this is rock and roll. 8 p.m. 301 Milam. For information, visit www.-marketsquarepark.com. Free.
