Dominic Walsh Dance Theater Kicks Off 10th Season with Free Samples

Dominic Walsh Dance Theater will kick off its tenth season with a poignant look back with a sampling of three audience favorites from last season. The free Fall For Dominic Walsh Dance Theater, which takes place at Miller Outdoor Theatre on August 26, will allow contemporary dance neophytes to get a taste of the company's work, while hardcore fans will get a chance to watch their favorite routines from last season once again.

The first routine in the lineup is Walsh's own Claire de Lune, which was inspired by Walsh's hero Mats Ek and which Walsh describes as a personal favorite. "It's a great moment for me," Walsh says.

The program also features Mats Ek's Pas de Dans, which Walsh calls "a little bit funny, a little dark and very poetic." Also included is Time Out of Line, which combines music, dance, visual art and video to convey complex messages about retracing our paths and marking our own places in history.

"It's a statement that says, 'I was here at this time and in this place and I made something,'" Walsh says.

8 p.m. August 26. 6000 Hermann Park Drive. For information, call 281-373-3386 or visit www.milleroutdoortheatre.com. Free, but tickets are required to sit in the covered area.
