''Eighth Annual Open Call Exhibition: GOD''

Getting your art shown in a museum is never easier than at the Art Car Museum’s annual open-call show. The museum sets a theme (this year it’s God) and selects a featured artist. Then the first 125 people offering pieces following the theme get to have their work presented in a museum setting, along with the featured artist, this year Michael Healy. At ''Eighth Annual Open Call Exhibition: GOD,'' he’ll be showing his acrylic-on-paper Sleeping Saints series, a dreamlike look at Catholic religious greats in soft, melding colors that inspire warmth and prayerful thought. ''We expect…artworks that are humorous, spiritual, personal and ironic,'' said Art Car Museum Assistant Director Mary Forbes. ''Many artists participate year after year, as though they are in an ongoing visual dialogue with our visitors on these topics of interest.'' There’s an opening reception with many of the artists from 7 to 10 p.m. September 15. Regular viewing hours are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesdays through Sundays. Through December 14.
Wednesdays-Sundays. Starts: Sept. 15. Continues through Dec. 14, 2012
