Club Go, the downtown warehouse-turned-club formerly known as Hyperia, is hosting a bumpin' little getaway for all those looking to escape that holiday ambush of football, pumpkin pie and Grandma's really weird casserole. "Fallen" features a cross-section of DJs spinning everything from house to progressive to nu-skool breaks. We suggest you hit the main room early and scam your spot for headliner DJ Venom. The Providence-born spinster is a veteran of New England mix-offs and now boasts his own label and even an alter ego, DJ Eddie Brock. While he's made his name in techno, Venom (and Eddie) spin drum 'n' bass, darkwave and even synthpop. Venom shares the bill with Kid Icarus, DJ Demise, DJ Shogun, DJ J Dub and 4 Eleven. Jungle fans should make their way to Go's "seduction room," where the act known as 23 headlines with the Archangel, Flippy vs. Noi, Johnny Dove, MC Kaos, Swift E and Hnic. Don't sweat it if you're not too familiar with the lineups, as the gig promises a flashy, trippy light show and some mad people-watching. If that doesn't hold your attention, here's a bit of gossip: Word on the street is that some wax purists are dissing Venom for spinning CDs rather than the traditional vinyl. Is Venom a sellout for going the cheap, convenient route? Are these complainers behind the times? Spin your argument for or against Venom's methods at 9 p.m. Friday, November 26. 2001 Commerce. Chuy's Greyhound
I knew there was going to be trouble when Sunday night's date was still in my bed on Monday morning. I needed to be at Hobby at lunchtime to pick up my cosmic mate -- the Texas Tornado I still dreamed about -- who was flying back into town. My lies about where I had to be kept getting more and more bizarre, but my date finally left when I told her I was an hour late for my monthly checkup at the local renal clinic. There were still 45 minutes left before the Tornado's plane landed, so I stopped in at Chuy's (2706 Westheimer, 713-524-1700) for a fast greyhound and a moment of silence at the Elvis shrine. The first one went down like water, so I ordered another. What was I going to say to this beautiful creature who kept coming in and out of my life? My friends all wanted to know if I was going to pop the big question. I couldn't decide if I wanted to get her back or just get my records and CDs back. Should I stop and pick up some flowers? A box of chocolates? The only thing I had time for was another drink. I opened my wallet, checked for a condom and headed to the airport.

Richard Saenz has never dressed his models in anything Britney would wear. He's wrapped their faces in cloth and dispatched them in torn fabrics and togalike sheaths. Such is the risk many avant-garde designers take: The outrageous aspects of their clothes can trump their commercial appeal and wearability. But Saenz, whose designs are already coveted in New York and Tokyo, says this collection is his most wearable and comfortable yet, thanks to its emphasis on frayed hems and worn fabrics (that's "deconstruction" in fashion-speak). See Saenz's seams, as well as an eveningwear collection from designer Earnest Diaz at 7 p.m. Saturday, November 27. Barnevelder Arts/Movement Complex, 2201 Preston. Shake Your Buddha
"Let us rise up and be thankful," Buddha once said. That jolly dude with the jolly grin had the right idea. Rise up (and party it up) at a club named for the pot-bellied mystic tonight at Buddha Bar's Thanksgiving Bash. Think of it as a really extended happy hour with some generous drink specials: Ladies are treated to free champagne from 9 p.m. to 10 p.m., and everyone can throw back $2 well drinks and drafts all night long. And in between shaking your thang to the Mixman's spinning, you can nibble free Asian hors d'oeuvres -- after all, nothing says Thanksgiving like fried pot stickers, cheese wontons and spring rolls, right? 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. Friday, November 26. Hunan Downtown, 812 Capitol. For information, call 713-227-8999. Free. -- Steven Devadanam
