Admit it, when the Best Short Documentary portion of the Academy Awards rolls around, you don’t have a clue about any of the films. Even in the age of YouTube, finding good short subject non-fiction films is still difficult. Kelly Pike is hoping to change that with Glimpse: Documentary Shorts. ''I think Houston is lucky to have organizations like the Aurora Picture Show, the Cinema Arts Festival, and the MFAH film department- which all focus on bringing interesting and relevant works to Houston that may otherwise be difficult to come by,'' she told us via e-mail. Her curated showcase features a total of seven shorts, including Adam Butcher's Bradley Manning Had Secrets, a look at a soldier and hacktivist arrested for submitting information to WikiLeaks through his instant message logs. Also scheduled is Tony Donoghue's Sundance Festival winner Irish Folk Furniture, an animated glimpse at furniture repair and recycling in rural Ireland.
