Great American Trailer Park Musical

Theater critic Matthew Murray said The Great American Trailer Park Musical was “the theatrical equivalent of a bag of Doritos, complete with orange residue left on your fingertips: You know every minute is bad for you, but you can’t get enough.” We’d agree, it’s junk food, but really tasty junk food.

The show is set in a trailer park in Florida. Jeannie is agoraphobic and hasn’t left her trailer in 20 years. Her husband Norbert is a bit on the dull side and overly anxious about everything. Their marriage, already strained by the death of their son, is put to the test when a new neighbor moves in; she’s a sexy stripper named Pippi who’s running from her past and thinks Norbert’s arms are the perfect place to hide in. There are more neighbors, who gossip, sing backup and generally act like a Greek chorus. Stages Repertory Theatre is reviving the show, which was the longest-running production in its history. Our advice: Get your tickets early.
