First things first: There is absolutely no place for soggy tortillas, shriveled hot dogs and unidentifiable meats at Haute Wheels Houston, a sprawling, two-day, food truck festival on the grounds of Houston Community College Southwest. The gourmet mobile food movement has finally become entrenched in H-town, it seems; most of the participating trucks are well-known by serious pavement-pounders already.

Fusion Taco and No Borders serve up high-end Mexican street food; Off the Hook dishes out fried seafood, Cajun-style. Vegans are covered at Green Seed, Good Dog offers Texas-made franks, and the sweetly inclined can opt for two cupcake trucks and several better-than-traditional ice cream trucks.
