Herb & Dorothy

The award-winning documentary Herb & Dorothy proves that you don’t have to have absurdly deep pockets to put together a world-class art collection. Herb and Dorothy Vogel, a postal clerk and librarian, respectively, managed to amass one of the most important collections of contemporary art in the world. In the early 1960s, the couple quietly began to collect works by then-unknown artists, including Christo, Lucio Pozzi and Lynda Benglis. By living solely on Dorothy’s salary and using Herb’s income to buy artwork, they pieced together a collection of art that many museums would envy. 7 p.m. 14 Pews, 800 Aurora. For information, call 281-888-9677 or visit www.14pews.com. $8.
