The roof of the Houston Museum of Natural Science is turned into a launching pad for the International Year of Astronomy Mars Festival. Visitors to the museums Planetarium can construct Eggs-ploration Landers essentially, pods they hope will protect the eggs when they hit the ground that staffers will drop off the top of the building. Every egg that survives the fall earns the maker a prize and a reputation as a genius. (We cant say the same for practice landers you construct at home, where broken eggs on the kitchen floor might not go over so well.) 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. 1 Hermann Circle Drive, in Hermann Park. For information, call 713-639-4629 or visit www.hmns.org. Free with $4 to $7 paid Planetarium admission.
