It’s Not You; It’s Me

Staying home and brooding on Valentine’s Day usually backfires, often in the form of ice cream overdoses and accidentally watching an abundance of Hugh Grant films. An antidote: It’s Not You; It’s Me, a screening of short films at Block 7 Wine Company, hosted by Aurora Picture Show, all of which deal with the shitty side of love. There’s 25 Random Things I Did During My Big Fat Lesbian Depression, Chris Russo’s hilarious yet completely relatable account of the measures one woman took to get over a broken heart; Mitchell Rose’s Deere John, in which a dancing leading man performs an affectionate duet with a massive yellow piece of construction equipment; and Don Hertzfeldt’s Ah, L’Amour, a jaunty — if violent — cartoon in which a poor stick figure is maimed, shot and decapitated in his quest to find a woman. No happily-ever-afters here — but then again, no aging, foppish Brits, either. 5 p.m. Sunday. Block 7 Wine Company, 720 Shepherd. For information, call 713-868-2101 or visit Free to $7.
