Every year, Houston Ballet serves up
Jubilee of Dance, a sampler of some of the company’s finest works, both revivals and sneak peeks at upcoming premieres. This year’s performance is in honor of HB Managing Director C.C. Conner.
The Gentlemen, a world-premiere piece choreographed in light of Conner’s upcoming February retirement, will feature the men of the company clad in seersucker suits: “C.C.’s favorite outfit,” laughs Shauna Tysor, a company spokesperson. Last year’s
The Ladies will also be performed.
Expect to taste more than 15 other pieces in the smorgasbord, including an original work by first company soloist Melissa Hough. Her intimate choreography, set to a Rachmaninoff prelude, will feature costume design by another company dancer, corps member Allison Miller. Jubilee, now in its eighth year, is always an audience favorite. 7:30 p.m. Wortham Theater Center, 501 Texas. For information, call 713-523-6300 or visit www.houstonballet.org. $35 to $160.
