KUHF Silent Film Series: The General

Graham Reynolds gives The General the un-silent treatment. Austin's movie-music man and his ensemble, the Golden Arm Trio, will present - live - their original instrumental take on the 1926 Buster Keaton classic about the Great Locomotive Chase for a KUHF Silent Film Concert Series screening. It's quite a change of pace (or track, as it were) for Reynolds and company, who are known for original scores of dramas like Metropolis and Nosferatu. But Reynolds says comedy provides a welcome challenge, specifically in regard to timing. "For something like physical comedy that [Keaton] does, if you don't hit the mark, like right on, it just looks stupid," he says. "Buster Keaton is the top when it comes to that...that sort of cliche, slipping-on-a-banana-peel-type thing - he's the best of the best at that."
