"We're pretty sure a fair number of
Houston Press readers already are familiar with the business end of a nun's ruler (and if not, they probably should be)," says Stages Repertory Theatre Director of Marketing Lise Bohn of the nondenominational comedy Late
Nite Catechism Las Vegas: Sister Rolls the Dice. Playwright Maripat Donovan's happy reacquaintance of Catholic-school survivors with the joys of Catechism Class - and casino - returns Denise Fennell to the role of Sister, a not-so-blushing Bride of Christ. "Even Christ took a trip to the desert," says Sister, justifying her metaphorical mission to Sin City. "Being the wife of such an important man is truly a responsibility within itself...Now, if we happen to gamble a little, we will be sure to follow the guidelines for gambling within the rules of the Catholic Church. It's not a sin to gamble if you follow the rules, and to learn those rules, you must attend my class."
