"Magic: The Science of Wonder"

The Houston Museum of Natural Science is hosting a show full of hocus-pocus - the new exhibit "Magic: The Science of Wonder." "It's no accident that magic's greatest innovators are often inventors or scientists first," says guest curator and magician Scott Cervine. "It's science that gives us the language to experience wonder, and create illusions." Scores of artifacts covering the history of magic - such as Harry Houdini's water escape trunk - will be on display. The exhibit includes film clips, as well as displays on magic tricks and women in magic. Alexander Hermann's private car, complete with a séance illusion, will be on display, but the centerpiece of the exhibit is a specially constructed theater which will host live magic performances. (Hopefully the museum will have enough rabbit food on hand.) 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesdays, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesdays through Mondays. Through September 6. One Hermann Circle Drive. For information, call 713-639-4629 or visit www.hmns.org. $15 to $27.
