Those style elements are clearly seen in There was no possibility of a walk that day by Meghan Boody. The photograph shows a group of girls in a dormitory. The room, though furnished simply, is architecturally grand. Dwarfed by their large-scale surroundings, the girls are dressed in simple frocks. There’s a certain dreamlike quality to the image that borders on the phantasmagoric.
The large-scale trees seen in Beth Moon’s photographs seem to be otherworldly. One has an impossibly fat trunk, with a few gnarled branches sprouting from its top; another has long columns of twisted roots that seem to meld into the ruins of a building.
