Houstons indie-arts community comes together at the annual Menil Community Arts Festival. Joining forces with the Menil Collection are a num-ber of local nonprofit arts organizations, including the Aurora Picture Show, Da Camera, the Catastrophic Theatre and Inprint, for a free day of in-door and outdoor art, films, performances, readings, a book fair, art workshops, food and family activities. Concerts will run the gamut from jazz and alt-country to Qawwali (the Sufi devotional music of Southern Asia whose roots go back to the eighth century and that is sung in Urdu and Punjabi dialects). 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. 1515 Sul Ross.
