The famed giant horse is just the beginning of the story of the Trojan war in the Met Opera Live in HD: Berlioz's Les Troyens. An encore broadcast to theaters across the United States, the Met production features performances by Deborah Voigt as Cassandra, the prophetess who predicts the doom of Troy; Susan Graham as Dido, the king's widow, who rebuilds his kingdom on a foreign shore; and Bryan Hymel as Aeneas, the warrior who first wins and then breaks Dido's heart. We admit that with a running time of more than five hours, Les Troyens requires a bit of a commitment from fans, but Joyce DiDonato, host for this installment of Live in HD, keeps things moving between scenes with backstage interviews with the cast, director, designers and crew.
