Michael Guidry: “Stranger in Paradise”

Michael Guidry gets bent out of shape in “Stranger in Paradise.” For the exhibit of his latest round of acrylic works on canvas and panel, the artist took photographs of himself in various settings and then turned them into geometric shapes. Guidry stretches each self-portrait beyond recognition. Skies, horizons, trees, furniture, windows, floors and Guidry himself are transformed into sharp-edged polygons. See if you can pull it all together when the show opens today with a reception from 6 to 9 p.m. Regular viewing hours are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays, and 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Saturdays. Through February 14. Wade Wilson Art, 4411 Montrose. For information, call 713-521-2977 or visit www.wadewilsonart.com. Free.
