“One of the plays, called Winner, is written by Tom Stell,” says Walker, “and it is about a coach and a former student. And the student has kidnapped him because he blames him for all his life’s problems.” There is also a dark piece by Shannon Murdoch. “It’s about a woman trying to obtain a heart on the black market for her son.”
Walker’s instructions to the writers were simple: “We told them to write what they always wanted to write. So we got a little boundary-pushing and something that had some edge to it.”
