“Out on a Limb”

Introduce your kids to Henry David Thoreau (or at least to some of his ideas) at the Children’s Museum of Houston’s new exhibit “Out on a Limb — Adventures with Nature and Arts.” It was Thoreau’s view of nature, along with that of environmentalist Rachel Carson and author Richard Louv, that inspired the interactive display.

Visitors can investigate four areas: Forest Jam, Whirlwind, Light Play and Gnome Home, each with hands-on activities, crafts, physical activities and, of course, a little edutainment about the natural world. 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursdays, noon to 6 p.m. Sundays. 1500 Binz. For information, call 713‑522‑1138 or visit www.cmhouston.org. $7 to $8.
Mondays-Sundays. Starts: July 4. Continues through Sept. 18, 2011
