Ride the Wave to the Best Christmas Lights in Town
In Houston we know better than to dream of a white Christmas, but winter wonderlands are still within reach thanks to the Christmas Lights Tours on The Washington Wave.
For the next three Tuesdays in December Houston's jitney bus service will pass through the Bayou City's finest luminary displays, including the Woodlands Heights, Prestonwood Forest, River Oaks Blvd, and other nearby locations from 7pm-9pm. The $20 ticket includes a 10% discount at Washington Grill (where guests are picked up and dropped off) to be used before or after the ride, and cookies and hot chocolate to sustain all of the oohing and aahhing. $5 of every ticket is donated to the Houston Downtown Alliance and the Houston Theater District.
Holy Crap. This must be what Chevy Chase was going for in National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation
The Christmas Lights Tour has the added advantage of accommodating larger groups than would fit in a personal vehicle. According to Heather Pray of the Houston Downtown Alliance, "The Bayou City Arts Festival is using one of these nights as their office holiday party. I can't think of a more festive and fun night out!"
