Scarface: Say Hello to My Little Friend...Again
It's been nearly 30 years since Brian De Palma's classic Scarface first hit movie theaters. The film stars Al Pacino as Tony Montana, a Cuban immigrant who works his way up to be the kingpin of a cocaine empire. Michelle Pfeiffer appears as his anorexic trophy wife and Steven Bauer as his best friend and lieutenant. The cast also includes Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio, Robert Loggia and F. Murray Abraham.
Named one of the Top Ten Gangster Films of All Time by the American Film Institute, Scarface inspired a new generation of gangsters and wannabes. Who wouldn't want to fall face forward into a pile of cocaine, after all? And it made the line, "Say hello to my little friend," a part of pop culture.
The film, with newly restored high-definition picture and enhanced audio, will once again be on the big screen during the Scarface Special Event at the end of this month. The screening also includes a documentary about Scarface's impact on pop culture (it's all a build-up to the release of a special edition Blu-ray of the movie with loads of extras in September).
This is a one-time-only screening.
Scarface screens at 7:30 p.m., August 31. For a full list of locations, visit www.fathomevents.com. $12.50.
