Show Us Your Stuff: The Houston Press Is Looking for Visual Artists for Artopia 2015
We're hard at work on the upcoming Houston Press Artopia 2015, a celebration of culture, fashion, art, music and food. (And hands down one of the year's best parties, even if we do say so ourselves.) As part of our preparations, we're on the lookout for visual artists to exhibit throughout the two-story Winter Street Studios.
Painters, sculptors, filmmakers, light artists, photographers, conceptual and mixed-media artists are all encouraged to apply. If it's visual, we're interested.
For details on how to apply and what to expect if you're selected, turn the page.

Please understand, this is a curated show, so not every applicant will be accepted. Artists will be assigned exhibition space (average ten to 16 feet wide). Artists are responsible for load-in and load-out duties the weekend of January 24. Any sales from the show go 100 percent to the artist. All artists must be 21 years old or older. (Artopia 2015 has an all-adult vibe.) There is no fee to participate, and artists receive two general admission tickets to the event.
To apply, send small JPEG images of three to five works you would exhibit if selected and a couple of sentences about yourself to: firstname.lastname@example.org.
We want to see images of works you would show if selected, not a survey of your entire career.
If you're interested in showing film, video, sculpture or other art that will require special arrangements, please note that in your message.
The deadline for submissions is 5 p.m. December 22, 2014. All artists will receive notification of their status (accepted or declined) on Monday, December 29.
Houston Press Artopia is set for 8 to 11 p.m. January 24 at Winter Street Studios, 2101 Winter Street. For information, visit houstonpressartopia.com. Prices vary.
