Something Sweet

Love can be messy. It certainly is in Something Sweet, director Dan Turgeman’s story about falling in love with the wrong person. Alon (played by Turgeman), is a smart businessman living in London. He’s supposed to be marrying Maya (Avital Abergel), but when the couple goes home to her tiny village, he meets and falls in love with her older sister Tamar (Ayelet Zurer). The story is set in northern Israel, but the universal tale of unexpected love, and daring to be yourself, could happen anywhere. 7:30 p.m. Jewish Community Center, 5601 South Braeswood. For tickets and information, call 713-551-7255 or visit $3 to $5.
