SplatterFest: The Director's Cut

Filmmakers get a scant 54 hours to write, shoot and edit a horror for the annual Splatter-Fest competition. (Each film must include a randomly selected murder weapon, character type and line of dialogue.) Last year's event saw some absolutely incredible entries, such as the tale of the vengeful blow-up doll in Deflated, which won both Best Film and a Best Actress award for the doll's performance. Some of the filmmakers have reworked their entries for a special SplatterFest Director's Cut presentation. ''SplatterFest has grown to reach a bigger part of the community, garnering national exposure,'' said founder Kerry Beyer. ''We have contestants that range from high school and college students to seasoned professionals. It has grown into a great networking opportunity, and it is exciting to see our filmmakers collaborate beyond the festival and into feature-film production, with casts and crews that met and networked at SplatterFest.'' In addition to shorts, there will be teaser clips from upcoming films, as well as trailers from many talented local filmmakers.
