Star Wars isn’t just a film franchise, any more than Doctor Who is just a television series. It’s a multimedia phenomenon that’s fascinated legions of fans. Stars Wars Day is May 4, a holiday set aside to celebrate all things Skywalker-related. (It neatly lends itself to the catch phrase: “May the fourth be with you.”) War’Hous Visual Studios will be doing its part with Star Wars Invades War’Hous!, an enormous art-in curated by Dandee Warhol. More than 50 artists will be creating Star Wars artwork in mediums such as painting, drawing, photography, sculpture and more. There will also be toys and bodypainting.

Among the artists on hand will be acclaimed sensationalist illustrator and painter Cliff Franks. His personal crusade is against religious absolutism, so we can only imagine what he might do with the sexless, dark path of the Sith. Or maybe he’ll tackle that weird brain-spider cult that took over Jabba’s palace after Leia choked out the Hutt. There’s an opening-night party on Friday, with music by the Disco Daddies. (Wear your best Star Wars costume.) 8 p.m. to midnight. Regular viewing hours are 1 to 7 p.m. Saturday through Monday. Through May 7. 4715 Main. For information, visit www.warhous.com.
