The regional premiere of Small Mouth Sounds, playwright Bess Wohl's dramedy about six people who meet at a yoga retreat, will start off the 2015-16 season for Houston's Stark Naked Theatre Co., it was announced today by co-Artisitc Directors Philip Lehl and Kim Tobin-Lehl.
Returning to the Studio 101 stage will be a reworked version of Ho Ho Humbug, now in a 90-minute no intermission format. The play, first seen last year, tells the semi-autobiographical story of playwright Scott Burkell who went to work as a Santa Claus in New York City.
Edward Albee's Who’s Afraid of Virgina Woolf? is up next, the classic dark award-winning comedy that took the Drama Critics Circle Award for
Best Revival in 2013. Lehl and Tobin-Lehl will take on the lead roles in the story of the dueling bitter couple and the poor guests who come to their home to see it all played out before them.
The final play is a collaboration with New York City’s Bedlam Theatre. George Bernard Shaw’s Saint Joan will be making its Texas debut. . Bedlam Theatre co-founder and Artistic Director Eric Tucker, will direct the four-member cast — with three men playing the 23 characters surrounding Joan of Arc.
