Before it was an Academy Award-nominated film, Steel Magnolias was an off-Broadway play. The six-woman drama about a mother, her diabetic newlywed daughter and their beauty parlor friends tackles marriage, children, widowhood and everything in between. Perfect for the intimacy of smaller theaters, Steel Magnolias’ heartfelt ending is made all the more real when you’re sitting up close and personal.
