Sticky Notes and Archival Photos: Gallery Openings and Closings This Weekend

Opening August 25 Architecture Center Houston kicks off its retrospective on 175 years of Houston's building history today at 5:30.

Opening August 28 East End Studio Gallery opens its exhibit of sticky-note art with a reception from 4 to 7 p.m.

Closing August 26 Art League Houston shuts down two exhibits today: "Indigenous Genius" and "Fleet For Abby."

MECA's having a closing reception for complementary exhibits "Vacancies," a poetry installation by Matt Gundlach, and "Sacrament of the Ordinary" by Kate Ambrose. The installations chronicle their year of service in the First Ward. The reception starts at 7 p.m.

Closing August 27 The stunning photography exhibit "Texas Zydeco" at the Museum of Printing History goes dark.

This is also the last day for Houston artist Sandra York's abstract installation "trueorfalse" at Nau-haus.

And for our friends in the 'burbs, this is the last weekend to venture over to the Recreation Center & Natatorium for the August exhibition of artwork of University of Houston-Clear Lake BFA students.

Closing August 28 This is your last chance to view rare art from New Guinea in "Ancestors of the Lake" over at The Menil Collection.

It was fun while it lasted, but "Neopopstreetfunk 3"'s short run will also come to an end at Gallery M2.

Colin Johnson and Jason Limon show off their powerfully colorful illustrations in "Double Helix" at G Gallery for the last time.
