Starbucks becomes a common enemy for the owner of a Chicago donut shop and his hired help in the comedy Superior Donuts, currently onstage at Theatre Southwest. Arthur (John Stevens) is an old hippie hold-out scrambling to keep his small neighborhood shop open. Franco (Sam Flash), the shop’s young clerk, has some new ideas to brighten things up, like maybe some music or a few healthy menu choices, but those don’t go over so well with the set-in-his-ways Arthur. Worse still, the Starbucks across the street is stealing all of the shop’s business.
Fridays, Saturdays, 8 p.m.; Sun., Sept. 16, 3 p.m. Starts: Sept. 7. Continues through Sept. 29, 2012
