Wendy Wasserstein's comedy The Heidi Chronicles reveals the political landscape that liberated women had to negotiate as they sought social and political equality from the early 1960s to the 1980s. The show, getting a new production from Main Street Theater, follows an adult Heidi, an art historian who lectures on neglected women artists, as she remembers her adventures as a young feminist.
