Here’s a vampire movie with a twist — The Moth Diaries is set in an all-girl’s boarding school and features lots of girl-on-girl action. Vampire action, to be clear. Like all vampire films, lust and fear abound, and, in this case, so does adolescent angst. Based on the Rachel Klein novel, The Moth Diaries is directed by Mary Harron (American Psycho).

The film starts with 16-year-old Rebecca (Sarah Bolger), who faithfully keeps a diary, starting the school year. A new girl, Erness (Lily Cole), joins Rebecca’s circle of friends, and Rebecca isn’t sure she likes it. Her teachers and schoolmates chalk it up to jealousy, but there really is something strange about Erness (besides her name). Bad things start to happen (think single-edged razor blades and bathtubs filled with blood), and fear seizes the girls. But are things what they seem? Or has Rebecca, through her diary, mixed the real world with one she created in her mind? 7:30 p.m daily. April 20 to April 26. Alamo Drafthouse/Mason Park, 531 South Mason Road.
