We’ve seen just about every film that
Tommy Davidson has done. He wowed us in
Woo, blew us away in
Booty Call and even managed to pull off some great gags in
Juwanna Man. He cut his teeth as a stand-up act opening for musical legends such as Patti LaBelle, Luther Vandross and Kenny G. Most will remember him from the cast of
In Living Color (the Jamie Foxx and Jim Carrey episodes). While Foxx and Carrey are doing other things these days, Davidson is still out there hitting the road as a stand-up comedian. And, we’re happy to say, still delivering his trademark brand of cutting-edge wit.
Do yourselves a favor. Go find a copy of Davidson in Black Dynamite with Michael Jai White. The blaxploitation spoof is pure gold that was a hit with the critics, and we can look forward to an animated spin-off staring Davidson next year on Adult Swim. 8 p.m. Thursday, 8 and 10:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, 7:30 p.m. Sunday. The Improv, 7620 Katy Freeway. For information, call 713-333-8800 or visit www.improvhouston.com. $20 to $22.
