Best Weathercaster Houston 2007 - Frank Billingsley

Readers' Choice: Dr. Neil Frank

Hurricane season is the time of year when all the local weathermen and -women (and, ahem, dogs) tell you, time and time again, that you are about to die!!! All of them, that is, except for Channel 2's Frank Billingsley, who prides himself on not giving in to the hype. He was the first guy, after all, to make the call in 2005 that Rita was going to miss Houston. He never freaks out when a storm is barely within 1,000 miles of Texas, and he never delays the moment to tell folks when they're safe. He just gives the goods the way they are and the way they hopefully will be. Of course, by the time you read this, a hurricane could've blown Houston off the map and, thanks to Frank Billingsley, you might've stayed in town, but we're pretty sure that didn't happen.

HUH?? Frank Billingsley? Calm? Cool? Collected? NO WaY! He is the king of duck and cover. He freaked me out so many times I stopped watching his weather reports. And he was soooooo bummed when Rita didnt hit us. Boohoo. I guess it would be a pretty big story for him with all the deaths and stuff. Aww shucks, maybe next time Frank. Bad call on this one guys.

Are you kidding?! Frank is the king of hype! He loves to draw those big arrows any time there's a storm and they always point right to Houston! You guys always vote for the underdog.

make the call? the urban myth continues!

Frank is a great guy and good weatherman bu please Houston Press, back your statements with facts. Who says Frank made the first call that Rita turned? For that matter, who was watching all 5 stations at the same time when it took place? Hell, 90 percent of the city wasn't even in town to watch any TV let alone 5 stations in the middle of the night.

frank, no disrespect to you but this myth is a lot like the energizer bunny.. it goes on.. and on..
