Best Radio Talk - 2008
John Granato & Lance Zierlein
There's one thing that sets John Granato and Lance Zierlein apart from every other sports-talk show in Houston: They're freaking funny. Hilarious, even. Zierlein is a master at voices (ESPN's Lou Holtz and "SEC Guy" are highlights), and Granato is the loud guy at the bar you don't mind so much because he's actually entertaining you rather than boring you. It helps that both know their stuff, too — especially Zierlein, a coach's son who knows how to break down film and spot flaws instead of just spout clichés.
lance, please do more analysis and scounting reports on the o-line. i would like to hear your opinion on a few items.1. what are the texans doing well vs last year and vs 2008 when slaton ran for over 1200 yards. are the guard play that much better with wade smith and mike brisel/antoine caldwell this year vs previous years?2. how do our o-line compare with the other running teams like the jets with all their 1st round picks.3. it seems like the texans were doing an awesome job plowing d-lines over on the left side of the o-line (especially when d. brown was playing) or it just my perception? 4. rashard butler seems to be doing a good job as a LT. d. brown seems to be better at the run vs pass, should the texans consider moving d. brown on the inside and keeping butler on the outside? i remember some scouts thought d. brown was a much better guard prospect than tackle.
would love to hear your thoughts!
not only the funniest, but the best morning show in radio, regardless of format... no canned formulaic weak-ass schtick, just true and original spontaneity at it's best...
