Best Tattoo Artist - 2008
Antoine at Texas Tattoo
What do you get when a Vietnamese kid is raised and steeped in all things Texas while growing up in Pearland? An Asian tattoo artist with a serious Southern drawl who has an interest in tat'in kick-ass skulls and naked chicks onto your skin — and who can do it better than most. Antoine has patiently honed his skills with the tattoo gun, slowly earning recognition and respect from his fellow artists and other enthusiasts. Get your work done now while you can still book time with him. Demand is going up, so don't blow your chance to get a permanent Picasso on your body.
First off, GREAT JOB ON MY DOUBLE KOI Antoine! Antoine is a cool guy and has great talent with the ink. I travel frequently between Houston/Miami/NYC and people love my Tattoo. I LOVE my tattoo. I was so impressed that I am flying my brother in from Miami just to get inked by Antoine. I will never go to SHAWs just because of the blatantly un-professional comments on Antoine by that poster. Shame. Congratulate a artist for his work, not his "longevity." Before I decided on Antoine, I did go over and check out portfolios at SHAWs and I was not impressed...mediocrity there for 30 years, it seems like.
Someone down there seems a little bit angry about someone who is up and coming in the business. Instead of hating on someone because they are voted best of, try congratulating them. Loyal customers is what will get you this... Antone is a great artist and has worked hard to get this so anyone who wants to hate on it needs to just get over it because this does not come easy. We love you Antone!!!!
You have got to be kidding me!! I can't believe you have a category for "best tattoo artist" and "best tattoo studio" and you don't even include anyplace or person named "shaw". HELLO!!! Name another tattoo shop in town, hell, much less in the entire US that is about to celebrate it's 30th anniversary and I might really be impressed. Shaw's Tattoo has by far the most talented and professional artists in town. I never get work done anywhere else. Ever. But, since the public is mostly unaware that people cannot be named in the Houston Press "Best of" issue without paying for the honor and buying an ad, I guess they will blindly travel to any old idiot to get permanent art on their body since you recommend them. Maybe you should keep up on your research. The "best" studio you named last year didn't even have a license. You are sending people uneducated with the industry to people who might not even be practicing with sterilized equipment. Nice work, guys.
