Allow me to introduce myself. My name is James King and in 2008 I was involved in an auto accident which broke my right leg in many places along with the detachment of my patella (right knee cap). I had excellent surgeons who literally put my leg back together using the infamous Ilizarov fixator. This contraption is where metal pins and rods are surgically placed through the bone and out the skin and bolted to multiple metal halo rings surrounding the leg. This device holds the bone pieces in place while the bone heals. After wearing the fixator for six months and undergoing additional surgeries, there were many more months of grueling rehabilitation and physical therapy.
