I have to agree this place is not the 'Best of Houston' honestly the only reason this place's food would be any where close to being good is because you are drunk & hungry. COME ON! don't make me doubt going to these other places because of your crap choice of good sushi!!!
Best Japanese Restaurant Houston 2009 - Genji Japanese Restaurant & Karaoke Bar
If you're looking for sushi, Houston is heavily populated with above-average sushi restaurants. If you're looking for a good time and fantastic Japanese bar food, Genji is the only show in town. Set to the soundtrack of some serious (and sometimes seriously painful) karaoke, Genji attracts businessmen and twentysomethings alike. Menu highlights include teba gyoza (stuffed chicken wings), onigiri (rice balls), beef kushiyaki and yakisoba (panfried noodles with a fried egg on top). The rum-heavy cocktail menu has such throwbacks as the Mai Tai and Midori sour, but Genji's "special drinks for men and ladies" will have you dancing on one of the graffiti-laden tables with a microphone in your hand before you know what hit you.
This is ridiculous. Maybe after 9 years of "Best of" lists youre just running out of good sushi places. Maybe you accidentally stumbled into Teppay which is just a few blocks down Westheimer. Maybe you just have a high school/college ugly asian girl fetish. But Genjis? Seriously? This is a crappy karaoke bar that underage azn punks go to drink. And believe me, I was one of them. Whatever, I just wanted to give yall a fair warning.
This you're obviously kidding about. It's a karaoke bar for chrissakes! The food cannot be compared, unless you're Glen Beck's brother, to a decent place like Sushi King or Kaneyama down the street. This is the most inane choice I've ever seen...what's wrong?! I love Genji but more to pick-up chicks and drink. Pls say you're not serious...
