Astros-Pirates: Houston Gains on Milwaukee in Wild Card Race
While there are more important things to deal with today, I just wanted to note that the Houston Astros beat the Pittsburgh Pirates 6-0 last night. And with the Milwaukee Brewers losing the game, the Astros are now only three games behind in the wild card chase. A chase which is being temporarily interrupted for the Astros as they take a Hurricane Ike break. And both the Astros and the Pirates played as if they wanted to get the hell away from Ike, as the game lasted only two hours and nine minutes.
Roy Oswalt was magnificent last night. Again. He gave up only three hits while throwing only 90 pitches. He also pitched his second straight complete game. This was the 14th of his career. Oswalt also now holds the Astros record with 32.1 consecutive innings without giving up a run.
I now return you to your regularly scheduled Hurricane Ike coverage. -- John Royal
