Astros-Rockies: It Might Be Houston’s Lucky Day
The Colorado Rockies defeated the San Diego Padres 2-1 last night. And this may have provided the Astros with a very lucky break tonight, and this weekend.
Simple: the Rockies won the game in the 22nd inning. After playing six hours and 16 minutes. And the Rockies burned through eight pitchers -- essentially their entire bullpen. The end of the game came at roughly 1:30 a.m. San Diego time, or 3:30 here in Houston. Then the team bussed to the airport to catch a flight to Houston. So they probably got to Houston about 7:30, got into their hotel rooms approximately around 9:30, and will have to be at MMP at about 4:30.
They're going to be jet-lagged. They're going to be tired from lack of sleep. And their bullpen is worn out.
Maybe, just maybe, the vaunted Astros offense can find away to take advantage of this. That is, if Miguel Tejada doesn't drop another bomb on the team today. – John Royal
