How About Those Texans?

I didn’t watch much of the Texans game on Saturday. I was too busy watching Brad Lidge return to form. But I did learn a few things during the brief time I did watch.

For instance, do you know the Texans did not make one bad move this off-season? Yep, every move was a good one.

I also learned that the Texans offense under Matt Schaub works the same way as the Texans offense under David Carr. Get the ball inside the 20-yard line and settle for a field goal. And it’s nice to see that Mario Williams picked up from where he did last season – no tackles.

It’s a good thing the team passed on Reggie Bush.

But, despite what Richard Justice thinks, it’s way too early to make judgments about the Texans, or any of the players. Justice is already writing about how Matt Schaub can do things David Carr never dreamed of doing. You mean like miss open receivers? Or get the team inside the red zone without scoring a touchdown?

Yeah, David Carr would never be able to do anything like that.

I guess Kris Brown is looking at another season as the team’s best offensive threat.

Next week the Texans are off to Phoenix for an exhibition match-up against the Arizona Cardinals and Matt Leinart, another one of those guys the Texans passed up last season for the chance to take Mario Williams.

But at least the Texans aren’t at that same level of suckitude as the Astros.

Yet. – John Royal
