As if Texas Southern University doesn’t have enough problems, it now has the NCAA cracking down hard on it. TSU received five warning letters from the NCAA, the highest for any school in the nation. The warning letters are the first-ever sent out under the NCAA’s efforts to make sure schools put more “student” in the hoary phrase “student-athlete.”
Astonishingly, a huge chunk of the schools receiving the letters are historically black colleges. We guess football factories like Florida State or Tennessee are just doing a hunky-dory job. No BCS team received a letter, for that matter.
At any rate, it just is another in a long series of bad news for TSU. Worse yet – it’s not like their sports teams are any good anyway. – Richard Connelly
